This Is More Important To Your Success Than Any Other Thing

Mr. Joe is an easy going man. He is tall, dark and handsome. He had beautiful dreams for the future and although he is still yet to manage to make his dreams reality, he is still very hopeful that one day, he would throw his fist into the air having conquered the world.
When Joe was a young man, he had a proposed future. He would rise from the middle class that his parents have been hopelessly stuck for years. He would do business, he would become a business guru, he would build a beautiful mansion, he would buy exotic cars and travel to exotic locations in the world. And marry a beautiful wife.
And now that he is married with two young kids, his wife is not a woman you would call ugly. Joe had achieved one of his goals but he still has many things to worry about. At least that was among the least of his worries.

Joe is still far away from achieving his lofty goals. He is worried and there is every reason to be. Because Joe may soon be in midlife crisis and then there will be a lower chance of actualizing the dreams he had nursed for years.
Joe had thought of being a real estate prodigy and he believed he had the tools. He was, in fact, a prodigy at planning. Years earlier, he had made an elaborate plan on how he would navigate the troubling waters of real estate.
taking action

He had heard about how real estate could be volatile at the best of times. He had really become a master at the analysis of real estate. He had been biding his time for years. There had been no perfect time to execute his plans.
His plans were perfect. In fact, his friend had praised him for being a genius at hatching such a complex but workable plan. The only problem Joe had was that he needed a perfect time to execute his perfect ideas to perfection.
He had read books from many real estate gurus trying to get a piece of their minds. Trying to know how they see the real estate industry. He had learned many strategies in the books. In fact, he learnt a new strategy in any new book he read about real estate.
After years of reading, he began training his mind because he believed he could see the best deal with his mind. He would practice meditation and he would visualize himself closing deals worth millions. And then he would study more.
But Joe is baffled that he is still yet to make anything from real estate despite having a deep reserve of knowledge about the business. He is still stuck at his 8 to 4 job that frustrates the hell out of him but that he dares not leave because his family would go hungry.
Occasionally, Joe would get frustrated when he sees people who are less smart than him making more in the real estate business. He would wonder how that ever occurred. He would conclude that if life wasn’t unfair, then he would have been a billionaire real estate investor.
How many times have you seen a man like this? First of all the first thing that comes to mind is the Dunning-Kruger effect. Joe thinks he is proficient but he is not, he knows little but he thinks he knows much.
He is deluded about his real stand because he had neglected the most important criteria for his success in real estate or any other business for that matter: taking action.
We have all seen many stories of success. We have seen people who were extremely lucky to be at the right place at the right time, we have seen people who knew someone influential. We have seen many diverse stories of success but one thing is common to them all.
Every success story has a strong foundation of actions taken by a successful individual. The successful individual is not someone who had never failed. In fact, the successful individual may have flawed plans.
But the successful individual never waits for the perfect time to execute his plans because there is never a perfect time. A successful individual put his plans, no matter how flawed they may be, into action.
He may even fail few times, but one thing he would continue doing is taking actions. He would continue to modify his plans and put them into action until he has a plan that brings the rewards.
He is different from Joe because while Joe believes his best learning would come from books and motivation, his ‘dumber’ counterpart believes the best learning would come from taking actions and making mistakes and putting in more hard work.
He agrees with Conrad Hilton who said: “Success seems to be connected with action. Successful people keep moving. They make mistakes, but they don’t quit.”
Joe has indulged himself in plenty of knowledge and motivation but a scarcity of action. The purpose of all knowledge and every motivation tactic that had ever been invented is to move a man to take action.
What is the essence of knowledge that lies dormant? Or motivation that makes you geared up but can’t move you to do the most important thing that will lead to success? It is wasted knowledge and useless motivation.
John F. Kennedy said: “There are risks and costs to action. But they are far less than the long range risks of comfortable inaction.”
You must be aware and must always cast self-deception as far away as possible from yourself. What have you done to give you a chance of achieving your goals?
Whenever you learn new things that sound like genius to you, do you put them to action or just admire the person behind the idea? And allow the genius to fade away?
Thomas Edison said ‘Genius is 1 percent inspiration and 99 percent perspiration.’ Waiting for the perfect time is a death knell for success. Waiting for the perfect time breeds hesitation and hesitation breeds frustration.
Action is the most important criteria for success. It is one quality that anybody who aims to achieve success cannot do without. Success comes from the actions you have taken. No action, no success.
How can a man take action?
Have a diary
Many times, we deceive ourselves and we try to give many excuses to justify how we live our lives. In other words, we are always soft on ourselves. Because who wants to attribute his failure to himself?
But you should. Because that is the only variable that you have control of. You can control yourself. You can analyse your weakness of spending too much time planning and too little time taking action.
Have a diary. List your achievements. If you have no achievement yet, list the steps you have taken towards achievement. Plan but make action the priority because an executed flawed plan is far better than an unexecuted perfect plan.
Ask tough questions. Have you motivated yourself to action? Even if your actions lead to failure you can dust your clothes, stand up and play again. Because if you will have a chance of success, it is the same actions that will make it possible.
The legendary painter Pablo Picasso said: “Action is the foundational key to all success.” What if you have a vision, Joel Barker has a word for you: “Vision without action is merely a dream. Action without vision just passes the time. Visions with action can change the world.”
If you want to know yourself you need to take action. Thomas Jefferson said: “Do you want to know who you are? Don’t ask. Act! Action will delineate and define you.” For you to show the world what you really are made of, you need to take action. Mahatma Gandhi said: “Action expresses priorities.”
Whether you want to be a successful real estate investor, or a successful banker, or entrepreneur, or a lawyer or a student or an academician, you need to take action. Take action today and give yourself the best chance to discover yourself and achieve the success you have always dreamed of.
